Holly Humberstone has firmly established herself as a poignant voice in pop music with her evocative and emotionally charged tracks. Although I’m not certain which of her songs I first encountered, the one that resonates most deeply with me is “Scarlett.” This track embodies pop perfection for me, skillfully navigating through a spectrum of emotions and showcasing Humberstone's exceptional ability to connect with listeners.

Humberstone’s EPs, The Walls Are Way Too Thin and Falling Asleep at the Wheel, are prime examples of her musical prowess. These collections are filled with tracks that embody everything I seek in a pop album—emotive lyrics, innovative soundscapes, and a deeply personal touch. Her voice, full of nuance and feeling, is a standout feature, perfectly capturing the essence of each song.

However, her debut album, Paint My Bedroom Black, while still impressive, doesn’t quite reach the same level of pop perfection that her EPs achieved. The album showcases her growth as an artist but lacks some of the emotional intensity and cohesion found in her earlier work. Despite this, Humberstone’s unique voice and songwriting talent are evident throughout the album.

Even though Paint My Bedroom Black diverges from the flawless pop craft of her previous EPs, Holly Humberstone remains a compelling artist with a bright future. Her ability to evoke deep emotions and her continued evolution as a musician promises that her best work may still be ahead. Fans of emotive and authentic pop should definitely keep an eye on her journey.
