As summer winds down, it's time to reflect on the music that has defined my season This summer was filled with concerts and festivals, which heavily influenced my current playlist Here’s a deep dive into the songs and artists that have been on repeat for me, capturing the essence of my summer.

Taylor Swift has had an impressive year with her new album that’s taken the world by storm Having seen her live twice before, I was thrilled to experience her Eras Tour this summer. Her new tracks "Peter," "Black Dog," and "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me" are particularly compelling. "Peter" is a haunting ballad that showcases Swift's ability to weave intricate stories with evocative lyrics "Black Dog" has a sombre, reflective quality, exploring themes of mental health with poignant honesty. "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me" is a spirited anthem of resilience and self-empowerment, making it a daily staple in my listening routine. Swift's ability to blend profound storytelling with catchy melodies never fails to impress, and these songs are no exception.

Another standout in my summer rotation is Maisie Peters. Her song "The History Of Man" is a lyrical masterpiece that captures her unique perspective and storytelling prowess This track, with its lush acoustic arrangements and introspective lyrics, delves into themes of personal growth and historical reflection It’s a song that finds its way into every playlist I create, resonating deeply with its intricate narrative and emotive delivery.

Dua Lipa has also dominated my summer playlist With tracks like "Illusion" and "New Rules," she brings a vibrant energy that is perfect for the festival season "Illusion" is a sleek, danceable track that showcases her sultry vocals over a pulsating beat, creating an irresistible groove. "New Rules" offers a punchy anthem for independence and self-empowerment, with its catchy chorus and clever lyrics about overcoming toxic relationships.

The early 2000s have made a strong comeback in my musical journey this summer. Scouting For Girls remains a perennial favourite, and their track "She's So Lovely" always brings a smile to my face with its infectious chorus and upbeat rhythm This song, with its playful lyrics and catchy melody, is a nostalgic reminder of simpler times Kate Nash's "Foundations" is another throwback that I’ve been listening to a lot lately. The line "You said I must eat so many lemons ' cause I am so bitter" never fails to make me laugh with its clever wordplay The song’s candid lyrics and catchy piano-driven tune make it a timeless hit.

This summer, artists like Olivia Dean’s "The Hardest Part" is a soulful track that explores the complexities of love and loss with raw emotion Nina Nesbitt’s "Loyal To Me" is a modern pop gem with sharp lyrics and a catchy beat, offering a fresh perspective on loyalty and trust. Rachel Chinouriri’s "Darker Place" is an atmospheric track that combines haunting vocals with a mesmerizing melody, making it a standout addition to my playlist.

Caity Baser’s "Friendly Sex," with its candid lyrics and catchy beat, has been a fun addition to my summer playlist. Problem Patterns' "TERFs Out" is a punk anthem with a powerful message, delivering a high-energy performance that is both rebellious and inspiring. Olivia Nelson’s "No Answer" is a smooth R&B track that showcases her rich vocals and emotional depth, making it a standout in my rotation.

Grace Petrie’s "God Knows" is a poignant ballad that explores themes of faith and doubt with heartfelt sincerity Frank Turner’s "Be More Kind" is a folk-rock anthem that encourages empathy and kindness in a world that often lacks both. Their music is a staple in my collection, offering a blend of heartfelt lyrics and captivating melodies.

Attending Glastonbury this year was a dream, and performances by Shania Twain and Avril Lavigne were standout moments Twain's classic hit "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" brought an infectious energy to the festival, with its empowering lyrics and upbeat tempo. Lavigne’s "Complicated" brought back a wave of nostalgia and reminded me why they’ve remained icons in the music industry The song’s catchy chorus and relatable lyrics about the frustrations of growing up make it a timeless favourite Black Pumas stunned me with their song "Colors." Their soulful sound and powerful lyrics are a revelation, making it a standout track The song’s rich instrumentation and dynamic vocals create an immersive listening experience Similarly, English Teacher’s "I’m Not Crying, You’re Crying" has become one of my favourites, combining poignant lyrics with a haunting melody that resonates deeply.

Angie McMahon’s "Letting Go" is another indie gem that has been on repeat Her raw vocal delivery and honest songwriting resonate deeply, making her music a must-have in any playlist. The song’s introspective lyrics and stripped-down instrumentation create a powerful emotional impact. For those who know me, my love for pop country runs deep Kelsea Ballerini’s "If You Go Down (I’m Goin' Down Too)" is a lively track that combines catchy melodies with clever lyrics about loyalty and friendship. Maddie & Tae’s "Die From A Broken Heart" is a heartfelt ballad that explores the pain of heartbreak with raw emotion and beautiful harmonies.

Kacey Musgraves is another artist who has made a significant impact on my summer soundtrack. Her tracks "Star-Crossed," "Good Wife," "Justified," and "Breadwinner" are emotional rollercoasters that showcase her exceptional songwriting and vocal prowess Each song offers a unique perspective on love, loss, and resilience, making them essential listeners.

Sabrina Carpenter’s rise this year has been meteoric, and I am firmly on board. Her song "Because I Liked a Boy" is a heartwrenching ballad that showcases her vulnerability and talent.

The song’s raw lyrics and emotive delivery make it a standout track.

While I haven't enjoyed her latest releases as much, Holly Humberstone's "Falling Asleep at the Wheel" remains an incredible song worth listening to Its haunting melody and introspective lyrics create a captivating listening experience Sam Fender is one of the best British artists to emerge in the last five years. His live performances are electrifying, and songs like "Will We Talk" and "Seventeen Going Under" highlight his exceptional talent and storytelling ability "Will We Talk" is a fast-paced track with powerful lyrics about fleeting connections, while "Seventeen Going Under" is a reflective song about growing up and facing life’s challenges.

I could go on and on about the incredible music I’ve been listening to this summer, but I'll wrap it up with three more artists who deserve special mention Griff’s "One Night," Dylan’s "You're Not Harry Styles," and Amanda Fagan’s "Beware of How You Give Your Heart" are exceptional songwriters whose music consistently tells compelling stories Griff’s "One Night" is a pop anthem with an infectious beat and empowering lyrics Dylan’s "You're Not Harry Styles" is a witty, tongue-in-cheek track that showcases her clever songwriting. Amanda Fagan’s "Beware of How You Give Your Heart" is a dreamy, introspective song that transports listeners to another world with its ethereal soundscapes.

As summer fades into fall, these songs will continue to play, each note carrying memories of an unforgettable season filled with music, discovery, and unforgettable live performances. Here's to the artists who make our lives richer with their talents and the songs that become the soundtrack to our lives.
