Great Britain's women’s 4x100m relay team delivered a stellar performance, securing a silver medal in a dramatic finish at the Paris Olympics. The British quartet, comprising Dina Asher-Smith, Imani-Lara Lansiquot, Amy Hunt, and Daryll Neita, finished just 0.07 seconds behind the gold medal-winning United States team in a nail-biting race at the Stade de France.
Despite challenging conditions, with rain affecting the track, Team GB executed two tricky baton exchanges with skill and precision. Daryll Neita, running the anchor leg, showcased remarkable speed and determination. She nearly overtook American sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson, the 100m silver medallist, in the final stretch. Richardson, however, crossed the finish line first with a time of 41.78 seconds, narrowly ahead of Great Britain’s 41.85 seconds. Germany secured the bronze medal with a time of 41.97 seconds.
This silver medal is especially meaningful for Neita and Asher-Smith, who had previously missed out on individual medals by narrow margins earlier in the Games. Neita finished just four-hundredths of a second off the 100m podium, while both she and Asher-Smith were within three-hundredths of a second from securing a 200m medal.
The British relay team's performance highlights their resilience and determination, adding a prestigious silver medal to Great Britain’s Olympic
