Great Britain proudly clinched bronze in the mixed 4x400m relay at the Paris 2024 Olympics, with an impressive national record time of 3:08.01. The team, comprising Amber Anning, Samuel Reardon, Laviai Nielsen, and Alex Haydock-Wilson, delivered a stellar performance at the Stade de France.
In a thrilling final leg, Amber Anning held third place until the very end, where she was overtaken by Dutch star Femke Bol. Bol’s spectacular sprint secured gold for the Netherlands with a new European record of 3:07.43. The USA, who had set a world record in the heats, finished in silver with 3:07.74.
This bronze adds to Great Britain’s successful campaign, following their silver in the mixed 4x400m relay at the 2023 World Championships. It was also their first athletics medal at the Paris Games, highlighting a strong showing from the British relay squad.
Bol’s victory, marked by a dramatic final push, was a redemption moment after missing out on the world title last year, as the crowd at the Stade de France roared in support.
